Flood-risk alert for Nonthaburi
GISTDA warns that Nonthaburi faces an elevated flood risk following an increase in water discharge from the Chao Phraya Barrage to 2,800 m³/second. The higher flow — combined with high sea tides — is pushing water levels up along the Chao Phraya River and slowing drainage.
The most vulnerable zones in Nonthaburi are Pak Kret and Bang Kruai, especially low-lying riverside communities outside flood barriers (“missing-teeth zones”). If the discharge rate remains high, the risk of overflow and local flooding could intensify.
Recommended precautions:
- Check road conditions on Google Maps or local Facebook community groups before leaving home
- Avoid low-lying roads — e.g. Chaeng Wattana – Bang Phut – Tiwanon (higher risk zones)
- Motorcyclists should slow down; do not rev the engine in deep water to prevent water entering the exhaust
- Follow official updates from Pak Kret Municipality / Nonthaburi authorities for real-time alerts
