Thank you for making this past year so memorable. From festive community events to the simple joys of daily life, it is your presence that transforms Nichada from a location into a true "home."

🎉✨ Happy New Year 2026!

As we step into a new chapter, we wish you a year filled with abundant joy, robust health, and endless success.

May every day bring you happiness, and may every moment be surrounded by love and warmth. Most of all, may your home here with us always be a sanctuary of peace, security, and a place where you create cherished memories with your family.

We look forward to another wonderful year of growing together as a community.

Best Floating Markets in Bangkok for Authentic Food and Culture

Long before roads shaped the capital, canals were Bangkok’s commercial lifelines. Vendors traded fruits and cooked foods directly from wooden boats, earning the city the nickname Venice of the East before modern development filled many waterways.

For those staying in Nichada over the New Year and looking for a one day getaway, floating markets are a great option. We’ve put together a short list for you.

Damnoen Saduak

Located 100 kilometers southwest of Bangkok, Damnoen Saduak appears in countless travel brochures. Its fame, however, transformed the market into something resembling a theme park more than a functional trading post.

What Works at Damnoen Saduak

Arrive before 7:00 AM to catch vendors arranging fresh produce and grilling coconut pancakes. The early light casts stunning reflections on the water, and the crowd density remains manageable. Photography enthusiasts make the predawn departure from Bangkok specifically for this golden hour.

Boat tours cost 200–300 baht for thirty minutes, granting access to areas unreachable on foot. Vendors sell mango sticky rice for 40–50 baht, a fair price that matches Bangkok street rates despite the tourist setting.

Taling Chan

Open only on Saturday and Sunday mornings, Taling Chan sits within city limits along Khlong Chak Phra. It serves local families first, creating a fundamentally different atmosphere from its more famous cousin.

Vendors primarily sell prepared foods: grilled river prawns (150 baht), boat noodles (40 baht), and iced coffee. Families rent tables in wooden pavilions to spend leisurely mornings eating and socializing.

While it lacks the photogenic density of Damnoen Saduak, Taling Chan offers genuine insight into how residents spend their weekends. Few foreign tourists make the journey, despite accessible taxi rides from central Bangkok.

Amphawa

While most markets operate in the morning, Amphawa comes alive Friday through Sunday evenings. Located seventy kilometers from Bangkok, it attracts Thai tourists seeking weekend getaways.

Why Amphawa Balances Tourism and Authenticity

The evening schedule naturally controls crowds, as most tour groups stick to morning markets. Local vendors grill seafood tableside, while small boats offer desserts like coconut ice cream.

Khlong Lat Mayom: The Hidden Food Paradise

This weekend market in the Taling Chan District attracts almost exclusively Thai visitors. Unlike Amphawa’s charm or Damnoen Saduak’s spectacle, Khlong Lat Mayom focuses entirely on food.

The market sprawls along a narrow canal, where boat vendors form just one part of the bazaar. Standout dishes include boat noodles and grilled pork skewers.

Velvet Partner Spotlight - Flip.bkk

Flip.Bkk is a must-visit restaurant near the Samakkee gate. Serving home-made, American-style dishes, it’s the perfect spot for anyone who loves authentic American comfort food. With unique ingredients and bold flavors, every dish offers a taste you won’t forget.

Exclusive offer: Velvet and Diamond members enjoy a 10% discount at Flip.Bkk.
