Yaowarat Chinese New Year cancelled to honour Queen Mother Sirikit

In an official announcement, the district office overseeing the Chinatown area confirmed that the Chinese New Year celebrations originally scheduled for February 17 and 18 have been cancelled. The decision was made in observance of Thailand’s ongoing period of mourning.
Despite the cancellation of the official celebrations, the public is still welcome to visit Yaowarat Road and participate in activities in the surrounding area. The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has installed decorative lighting along a stretch of more than 500 meters, extending from the Gate of Honor at Odeon Circle, commemorating Her Majesty’s 6th cycle birthday to Lamphun Chai Intersection.
Street food vendors and local businesses are expected to operate as usual, allowing both tourists and residents to continue enjoying Thai-Chinese cuisine and experience the distinctive atmosphere that makes Bangkok’s Chinatown a popular destination.
Presence of Flying Insect Swarms

Flying swarms in Thailand, known locally as Maeng Mao, are winged termites that emerge in massive numbers, particularly around streetlights and homes. They are reproductive termites searching for new breeding grounds, often shedding their wings quickly after landing.
Key Details About Swarming Termites in Thailand:
• Appearance: They are dark brown or black, with long wings of equal size.
• Behavior: They are highly attracted to artificial light, often invading homes at night.
• Significance: While a significant nuisance, they are also a traditional food source and local delicacy, often caught and roasted.
• Management: To manage them, it is advised to turn off exterior lights, close windows and doors, or place a bowl of water under a light source to trap them.
Why They Swarm
These insects are reproductive termites (alates) leaving their colony to mate and establish new colonies. They often appear after heavy rain, with only a small percentage surviving to create a new colony. Despite being called "flying ants," they are generally identified as termites that can indicate potential wood infestation in buildings.
Once swarming activity has ceased, utilize a vacuum cleaner with appropriate attachments to remove deceased insects from windowsills and surfaces, then dispose of the remains promptly.
Cardio Mix Class

This is a combination of various cardio exercises (such as aerobics, riding, and jump rope) that rapidly improves heart and lung efficiency.
